The first drawings I ever did were of Birds. I drew them on note paper and when that was used up I drew on the paper you found round soap. I drew on the walls behind the curtains where my mother would not find them! One day I was given a roll of lining paper which kept me quiet for some time. Then the day came when I was given pocket money. So I could buy a 6p drawing book every week! At the age of thirteen I passed an entrance exam and left the Convent I attended and became an Art Student, life couldn't get better !!
After quite a few years being a Freelance Artist and teaching Art I now have the time to draw and paint for myself. I have progressed now to painting Birds on Wood! Sometimes I get the Water Colours out and paint on paper, but mostly its wood.
On some of the Artwork I have added dried leaves and grasses as well as twigs for the Blackbirds nest.
The flow of the grain, and the knots fit so well with the shape of birds, some of the wooden pieces are free standing, others I have framed; they have painted mounts to enhance the colour of the birds.
On some I have printed likely leaves, willow leaves for Kingfishers and Oak leaves by the Jays.
I hope you enjoy the gallery as much as i do creating the art for it.
